pink ladies

We went to a birthday party at our neighbor's tonight and the girls wanted to wear their party dresses one last time. They practiced their dance moves before we left and were daring enough to show off a few moves and head bobs after we arrived. Happy Birthday Jim!

first "face paint"...but on the arm ;)

We went to the League City Oak Tree Festival this morning and the girls finally had the courage to get "painted." They were very, very serious...but, they thought they were pretty cool the rest of the day. The also took a big step into the moonwalk and thoroughly enjoyed the shelter animals.

girlie big wheels

Playing with the neighbor kids, Dane and Michael.

I keep thinking they should be wearing a "Pink Ladies" jacket.

Hanging out in the back yard. Thank you Georgia...you're awesome!

a good friday

Lunch with Tim. Apparently, we're now to grown up for high chairs. Except when we're in line to order--then we like to sit in a high chair and be 'rolled along.' In the picture above the girls are doing a "cheers" with their ice cream cones.

Jocelyn had potential frost bite on her chin and nose. It was red for at least five minutes after she finished.

Julia likes to put her finger on my lens every time I take her picture now, so she's a little harder to capture. She had fun watching her Dad freak out every time she touched him with her messy hands. Let's just say he returned to work a little dirtier than he came. (and yes, I have a REALLy hard time saying 'no' to those big, brown eyes)

We spent the morning at Open Gym for toddlers at the library. The girls had a blast and weren't too interested in posing for pictures amidst all the fun...I certainly wasn't going to interrupt the moment.

thinking outside the box

Thank you Grandma Diana for the new pillows! Hopefully they'll be "magical" at school!
For those of you curiously wondering about "school" this week here's the update. Jocelyn got sick on Tuesday and they had to come home after lunch. She still had a fever Wednesday night so they didn't go Thursday either. Ugh. I swear, if I thought they were capable of holding the thermometer up to the light bulb I would probably wonder. ;) However, we heard they REALLy enjoyed music class on Tuesday and Julia was very playful, so we will be hopeful and optimistic for next week!

little girls

They were playing in their room watching Daddy mow outside their window.

Has anyone seen Julia? She's such a silly girl.

Jocelyn likes to wear Tim's hats...and she knows she's cute when she does.

daycare: take two

Tim poked her, talked to her, rubbed her back and took her picture. Julia threw food in her crib and had a chat with her. She still didn't want to get up for "school." She's definitely my daughter.

"We'll get through this together sister. We can do it. Let's go, they promised they would pick us up and not leave us there forever."

Fancy new hair-do's from their teacher, Ms. Hilarie. Jocelyn had six rubber bands in her hair; Julia reminded me of a Sesame Street character. So cute! They even "kind of" gave their teachers hugs good-bye.

So, there was only ten minutes of crying when Tim left them today. Tim went to Chapel with them and they sat in the first row. Julia actually slept on her mat and Jocelyn drank well out of her big girl cup. They went out to recess, had story time, and did some artwork. I think we're making progress.

chalk, brooms, and buckets...

The girls enjoyed playing with sidewalk chalk for the first time. Of course she wrote that, she's a little genius. Daycare is paying off already.

Who knew a bucket full of water could be so much fun?! Yup, they were pretty much soaked head to toe. They like to get each other wet, especially with the hose.

Oh, sweet Julia. She tried to carry all the chalk pieces...she loves carrying things.

The clean up crew. Seriously, they swept for about 30 minutes and loved every moment.
It was a beautiful day; we had to get out and enjoy the 'cool front'...low 90's. ;)

first day of "school"

They shined so loud, I think half the school may have heard them. Or so we were told.
Tim dropped them off at about 9:20 this morning and we got a call before 11am saying they have been crying since he left and asking what we want to do. They recommended giving them another 30 minutes before intervening. It turned out they recovered and got a "happy", "helpful", and "friendly" on their afternoon report sheet.
The teacher said they took each other's hands and went from door to door trying to get it open and escape. Julia was also the one who started the crying and every time she went by Jocelyn she would start crying too...after they talked about it.
I'm not sure who will have more grey hairs...Tim, me, or their teachers?? Say a little prayer and hope for the best on Thursday!
